Aaron is in his 3rd year of a Bachelor of Education (Primary) specialising in Health and PE. In his spare time he enjoys tennis, football, basketball, surfing and video games. Aaron is passionate about being a Peer Mentor because seeing young people grow in confidence and achieve their goals is highly rewarding, hence why he aspires to teach.

Alex has recently completed his applied psychology degree at Deakin University. He is friendly, wise and respectful. Alex enjoys surfing, volleyball, playing Dungeons and Dragons and other video games. He is passionate about the Peer Mentor Program as he has seen firsthand the improvements in confidence, independence and self-esteem. He honestly feels that the quality of life improvements are priceless.

Alex is currently looking into his study options, however he believes that something in the sports science or coaching industry might suit him. Alex values having a good work ethic, being relentless and being compassionate. In his spare time, Alex enjoys football, going to the gym, hanging out with friends, food, coffee and gaming. Alex is passionate about the Peer Mentor program because it offers the opportunity to work with participants in a buddy role.  Alex enjoys working through any difficulties participants are experiencing and watching each of his particpants grow in confidence. The best thing about the Peer Mentor role for Alex is the ability to give back and make a difference in someone’s life.

Ben is currently not studying however Ben has experience with the NDIS in employment support prior to commencing work at Access Your Supports. Ben loves people and values honesty and empathy extremely highly. In his spare time, Ben enjoys music, computers and going on outings with his family. Ben is passionate about being a Peer Mentor as it is a beautiful opportunity to assist his participants in need and to provide support that helps make a difference.

Carol is passionate about the Peer Mentor program as it enables her to support her participants to meet their goals. Carol is also passionate about working with participants with different backgrounds and building bonds with her participants.

Courtney has directed and acted in multiple local theatre productions, specifically children’s pantomimes, for theatre arts, singing, dancing, writing, drawing, horse riding, video games, going to the beach and listening to music. She is passionate about the Peer Mentor role because of the amount of joy and relief it can bring to the Participants and their families. Courtney enjoys how each Participant tells their stories and she is invited to watch their personal growth.

Daniel is about to commence study in a certificate 4 in Mental Health. Once completed he is interested in studying Occupational Therapy or Social Work. Daniel values respect, compassion and trust. He enjoys music, specifically playing guitar, art, video games such as Minecraft, Fortnite and League of Legends, sports including AFL, cooking, writing and history. Daniel is looking forward to making a positive impact in the lives of the participants he works with strengthening his own skills for his future study path.

Gayle has a Certificate 4 in Disability and has worked in day programs, riding with the disabled and accommodation. She is empathetic, trustworthy and fun. Gayle’s passion is horses and she loves developing a real partnership and gaining the trust of a horse who has been reluctant to trust others in the past. Gayle is passionate about the Program because it enables her to make a positive difference in the Participants day. She enjoys encouraging and helping people live their best life.

Gemma is a qualified Primary Teacher and works as a casual relief teacher in Geelong and the Surf Coast. Gemma’s hobbies include exploring nature such as going to the beach, playing with her dog ‘Moose’, gardening, cooking and watching movies. Gemma hopes to encourage young people to gain confidence and let their unique sparkle shine.

Georgia graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work at Deakin University in 2019 after moving to Geelong from the far south coast of NSW. Georgia has experience working in specialist education and mental health settings. Georgia displays integrity, compassion and respect. Georgia is passionate about the Peer Mentor program as it allows her to support her participants to achieve their NDIS goals. Outside of Peer Mentoring, Jenna loves pilates, spending time with her toy poodle, catching up with friends and going on outdoor adventures. Meg is a registered nurse currently in her grad year. In her spare time Meg enjoys hanging out with her dog Noodle (pictured). Activities with Noodle include going for walks around her neighbourhood and along the beach. Meg is also a massive fan of food. This includes baking, eating, and dining out at restaurants with friends. Meg has been a Peer Mentor for over 2 years and during her time has played a key role in helping all participants achieve their goals. Meg is kind, personable and trustworthy.

Olivia is currently studying a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University. She is organised, open-minded and willing to grow and learn. She enjoys working with children and has recently completed a year overseas in the UK where she worked in an elite boy’s preparatory school. She enjoys spectating, playing and coaching sport including netball, swimming, cricket, soccer and touch football. She is passionate about the Peer Mentor role as it allows her to assist and interact with individuals with disabilities. Oscar is studying Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University. He is compassionate, dependable and trustworthy. He spends his time being as active as possible playing football or any sport he can. He is passionate about the Peer Mentor Program as it allows him to help his Participants strive to be the best versions of themselves and achieve their NDIS goals. He enjoys seeing the development of his Participants and helping them to tick off their goals.

Paige is studying Occupational Therapy. She enjoys spending time with friends at the beach and being outdoors. She loves being active. Paige values honesty, communication and being passionate about what you do. She believes that everyone is given the opportunity to do what that want to do and that can help facilitate this.

Phoebe is currently studying Occupational Therapy and would love to obtain her Masters in Play Therapy. In her spare time she enjoys surfing, cooking, swimming, listening to music, soccer and volunteering with Ocean Mind. Phoebe is caring, trustworthy, honest and optimistic. She is passionate about working with a broad range of people to make a positive impact on their lives.

Sam holds a Certificate IV in Disability and is determined to complete further study to pursue a career in the disability industry. Sam is passionate about helping others by increasing their confidence to complete their goals. Sam believes the best thing about being a peer mentor is being able to have fun while watching others grow immensely, knowing he was able to be a part of their journey. Sam also feels he can grow personally while watching his participants grow. Sam enjoys playing basketball, football, fishing, being outdoors, socialising with friends and family and watching movies.

Sheridan is currently studying online at Berklee School of Music. She is friendly, trustworthy and accepting. She is a passionate singer/songwriter who loves to play guitar, listen to music, physical activity, the outdoors, movies, the local cinema and spending time with friends and family. She is passionate about the Peer Mentor Program because it provides a wide range of opportunities for her Participants to access the community in a stress-free environment which helps them achieve their individual goals without any added pressure or anxiety. She enjoys her connection with her Participants by finding a common ground which helps build a great rapport.

Stephanie is studying Occupational Therapy at Deakin University. Her interests lie in spinal cord injuries and mental health. She is trustworthy, loyal and empathetic. Stephanie interests lie in working on her family farm, going to the beach, watching AFL (especially the Western Bulldogs) and attending music concerts. She is passionate about the Peer Mentor program because she is able to help her Participants to reach their goals through engaging in meaningful activities.

Tanisha is studying a Bachelor of Nursing / Midwifery at Deakin University. In her spare time she enjoys staying active, spending time with family and friends and watching movies. Tanisha is honest, kind and respectful. She is passionate about the peer mentor program as she has a family member who is a participant in the program. Tanisha sees every week how excited they are to hang out and talk to their Peer Mentor, and how motivated they are to meet their goals when the mentor is there. She is looking forward to forming strong relationships with her participants and having a positive impact on their day.

When she is not Peer Mentoring, Tanisha enjoys running, gardening, water sports, eating and netball. Tanisha enjoys getting to experience meeting new people and finds it a rewarding job!

Tom is currently studying a Bachelor of Education at Deakin University. He is friendly, kind and trustworthy. He enjoys participating in and following a range of sports, particularly football and basketball. In his spare time Tom enjoys socialising with his friends, watching movies and staying active and healthy. He is passionate about his role as a Peer Mentor as he loves seeing people improve and succeed and helping them out along the way. He feels that seeing people happy, confident and excited is very rewarding.

Travis has qualifications in Community Services Work and Certificate III in Education he would like to expand on these experiences. Travis’ goal is to guide participants in ways for them to cope better with their disability and help overcome the difficulties and challenges that life can project at them. Travis enjoys photography, drawing, snow sit skiing and recently learning new recipes to cook.

Tyler loves meeting new people as well as forming and building new relationships.

Willow is currently studying Bachelor of Law/Bachelor of Arts majoring in politics at Deakin University and hopes to work in humanitarian assistance in the future. She is empathetic, tolerant and has integrity. Willow enjoys music, art and reading. She is passionate about making a difference and improving her Participants lives where she can. She enjoys making a connection with her Participants which is unique to the Peer Mentor role.
