Michael has been with Access Your Supports since 2016. He has worked in many areas of the business over the years including finance (payroll), Plan Management and he was one of the first Peer Mentors. He thoroughly enjoyed this role and it helped him gather first-hand experience in disability. Michael’s knowledge of the NDIS was developed through the rigors of Plan Management. In 2018 Michael completed a Bachelor of Business (Sport Management) Majoring in Marketing. Concluding that year, Michael proudly took up the reins to become Peer Mentor Team Leader and has worked in this space ever since. Michael is loyal, honest, determined and thrives on working in a team, helping others and facing new challenges.

Rhys commenced at Access Your Supports in January of 2018. He first began as a Peer Mentor and transitioned into his new role as a Business Support Officer in the Peer Mentor Team in the middle of 2020, spending a total of 2.5 years as a Peer Mentor. Through his work as a Peer Mentor, Rhys has developed a varied experience in disability. At the end of 2019, Rhys graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Psychological Science. Once completed, Rhys then started to transition into his current role as a Business Support Officer. Rhys is honest, dedicated, hard working and loves helping people to achieve their goals.

Michel comes from a working background of administration and finance. He has now chosen to follow a new career path as a Peer Mentor. Michel is empathetic, trustworthy and caring. He enjoys football, music and spending time with his family and friends. He is passionate about the Peer mentor program because he finds working with his Participants rewarding and it gives him the opportunity to give back to society.

Aaron completed his Diploma of Community Services in 2021. Aaron values respect, integrity and honesty. In his spare time, Aaron enjoys watching motorsports and riding motorbikes. A skill that Aaron has is that he has been a qualified mechanic of 9 years. Aaron is passionate about being in the Peer Mentor program as he wants to make a positive impact on people’s lives and meet new people all the time.

Amanda is not currently studying and has no plans to return to further studies at this point in time. Amanda values honesty, integrity as well as being sincere and genuine. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys horse riding, going to the gym, hiking, walking, socializing and reading. An interesting fact about Amanda is that she can speak some very basic Maltese. Amanda is passionate about being involved with the Peer Mentor program as she loves helping others to achieve their goals and live their life to the fullest.

Angus is currently studying a Bachelor of Social Work at Deakin University in Geelong. Angus values respect, honesty and mindfulness. In his spare time Angus enjoys playing music, in particular playing guitar, drums and bass, playing basketball, watching tv shows and movies – he can quote a lot of Harry Potter references. Angus is passionate about the Peer Mentor program as it gives him the ability to support those who need it and it is very rewarding, whether this be teaching someone a new skill or just having fun!

Anjali is currently studying Occupational Therapy at Deakin University and is expected to complete this in 2024. Anjali values respect, compassion and honesty. In her spare time, Anjali likes Netball, animals and travelling. Anjali is passionate about being in the Peer Mentor Program as she is looking to establish a career to make a difference to those in the community and the Peer Mentor role would also help her to be a role model to others and help her learn and grow as an individual.

Annie is currently studying a Double Degree in Nursing and Midwifery and is expected to complete it by 2024. Annie values respect, trust, and inclusivity. She enjoys reading, music (in particular Taylor Swift), crocheting, and animals. Annie loves the Harry Potter books as well as spending times with her dog, Poppy. Annie is passionate about making an impact on the lives of people with a disability and wants to empower people to be in charge of their lives.

In his spare time, Archer enjoys playing footy and basketball, gaming, and going to the gym. Archer is passionate about being in the Peer Mentor Program as he enjoys helping others do what interests them and helping others with difficult situations that might involve problem solving.

Bianca is currently studying a Certificate IV in Disability. She values respect, honesty and being open-minded. Bianca loves music, movies, taking time to undertake in girly activities and get dressed up. One of Bianca’s hidden talents is she can memorise song lyrics very quickly. Bianca is passionate about being a Peer Mentor as her previous experience in respite has given her an awesome opportunity to continue doing what she loves while helping her participants with what they love.

Blake is not currently studying however he loves playing with his kids and is excellent at telling ‘dad jokes’. His main interests are movies, sport, swimming, and surfing. Blake is a skilled swim teacher and also speaks fluent Danish. Blake is passionate about helping people achieve their goals and cannot wait to do this in the role. He values honesty, integrity, and punctuality.

Bridget is currently studying a Bachelor of Psychological Science at University which she hopes to complete by 2023. Bridget is looking forward to providing people with encouragement and supporting her participants to live independently as well as creating a safe and happy environment for those she mentors. Bridget has an interest in sport (mainly soccer, hiking and running), music (both listening and discovering new music) as well as art (mainly photography and painting). Bridget

Caleb had previously commenced study in Film & Media, however he has placed his studies on hold and has no plans to return to studying at this stage. Caleb values being honest, trustworthy, and respectful. In his spare time, Caleb loves playing sports, in particular playing footy, cricket and soccer. Caleb also enjoys films, video games, and hanging out with his mates. Caleb can also speak very limited Japanese. Caleb is passionate about the program as he really admires the work that is done by other Peer Mentors. Caleb has a family member with autism, so he can really appreciate and understand the support that is received. The best part of the role for Caleb is being able to have the satisfaction of seeing growth in his participants as a result of his support and the feeling he gets for the role he has played.

Connor is also considereding studying his certificate IV in disability in the future.

Daniel has completed an Automotive Mechanic course in 2020. Daniel values respect, empowerment and equality. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys music, photography and cars. A skill that Daniel has is that he is a DJ for multiple clubs in Geelong. Daniel is passionate about being in the Peer Mentor Program as he wants to teach people and help them grow, and also wants to be able to watch his participant’s progression.

One of Ebony’s niche skills is painting terracotta pots, where she sells them online and at markets. Ebony values honesty, creativity, and respect.

Ella is currently studying Visual Arts at Deakin University with the plan to study a Master of Teaching once complete. Ella values kindness, integrity and being trustworthy. When she is not Peer Mentoring, Ella loves dancing – including contemporary, modern jazz & ballet – along with reading, walking/exercise, film, music and art. An interesting fact about Ella is that she has danced for 18 years and at one point got to play the Cheshire Cat in a ballet production of Alice in Wonderland. Ella loves the Peer Mentor program as she is always learning from others and wants to share experience with and make memories with people. Ella wants to gain as much experience with people as she can before she goes into the field of teaching.

Lizzie is passionate about the Peer Mentor program as she enjoys building strong therapeutic relationships with participants, having lots of fund whilst helping build independence and having a positive impact on those she supports.

In her spare time, Felicity enjoys horses and horse riding, animals in general (Felicity owns many of her own), and outdoor activities such as hiking. A niche skill that Felicity has is that she can speak some basic French and also has a basic understanding of the flute and saxophone. Felicity believes that the Peer Mentor program is fantastic as it allows participants some freedom outside of their home environment and allows for meaningful interaction with others.

Genaiya is currently studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts with the plan to finish at the end of 2022. Genaiya strongly values respect, communication and being compassionate. When Genaiya has some spare time, she enjoys painting, drawing, sewing, exploring, digital arts and gaming. Genaiya has some background with animal rescue and loves spending time with animals. Genaiya is also a part of the Indigenous community and grew up in a small Indigenous community in NSW. Genaiya loves the Peer Mentor program as she feels it is extremely important to give others the opportunity to grow and achieve their goals and Genaiya feels that this program does just that. The best thing is being able to help and make a difference.

Grady is studying Sports and Exercise Science plus Business Management at Deakin University. He would like his course to lead him into Physiotherapy or become an Exercise Scientist. Lachlan is currently studying an undergraduate degree in Psychology hoping to get into clinical or counselling work. He wishes to have his studies completed by 2022. Lachlan is passionate about the ability to conduct work that has immediate and genuine meaning, in addition to furthering his career. He is also passionate towards mental health and hopes that his role provides him with the chance to action his passion. In her spare time, Laura enjoys playing netball and any other sports, going on walks, going to the beach, playing with her dog, travelling, cooking, and painting. Laura is passionate about being a Peer Mentor as she enjoys being able to provide support to participants as well as empowering individuals to reach their goals within themselves and in the community. Laura believes that the program allows individuals the opportunity to follow their own interests. Laura finds the Peer Mentor role a very rewarding job to have.

Lauren has a passion for the arts.  She is trained in singing, piano and guitar. While music is her calling Lauren is also a keen sports fan enjoying football, soccer cricket and tennis as well as dancing and reading. Lewis is currently studying Teaching at Federation University in Ballarat and is looking at potentially going into either Health, PE or Maths. Lewis is honest, conscientious and trustworthy. Lewis is passionate about the program as he enjoys being able to build and develop skills with his participants. Matilda is currently studying a Bachelor of Social Work at Deakin with the plan to graduate at the end of 2024. Matilda also wants to Major in Indigenous Studies after her Bachelor. Matilda values honesty, kindness and having fun. Matilda enjoys arts and crafts, making her own necklaces and earrings, the beach, painting and animals. Matilda also loves gymnastics and coached this for 3 years. Matilda grew up in an Indigenous community in far north Queensland. Matilda is also a part of Wildlife Rescue Victoria (her dad owns a bat rehabilitation centre in Queensland). Matilda is passionate about the Peer Mentor program as she is invested in making a difference in her participant’s lives as well as being able to help them to become more independent and contribute back to society, which is a rewarding experience for Matilda.

Molly loves the Peer Mentor program as it allows her to empower others to live an authentic life and give them the support they need to develop their skillsets. Molly also loves that she is able to meet new people with diverse lived experiences.

Nathan has plans to study physiotherapy in the future. He values creativity, caring for others and being joyful.  Nathan loves gaming, computers, reading manga and listening to music.  Nathan’s niche skill is making balloon animals and he is also learning Spanish. Ollie is passionate about being in the Peer Mentor Program as he wants to work in an environment that is rewarding, making a positive impact in the world and wants to learn more about the disability field and Occupational Therapy.

Paige is currently in her third year of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University and is expected to complete her studies by 2023. Rose is looking forward to supporting participants in fun and caring way. Rose will bring happiness to those who she works with and will strive to build their capacity  skills.

Ruby is currently studying Occupational Therapy at Deakin University and hopes to have her studies completed by 2024. Ruby says that she wanted to become a Peer Mentor so that she can learn and grow alongside new people and to have an impact on others in the community. Ruby has an interest in sailing, netball and reading. One of her niche skills is being able to play chess, as not many people play chess these days. She is passionate about the Peer Mentor Program because it provides a wide range of opportunities for her Participants to access the community in a stress-free environment which helps them achieve their individual goals without any added pressure or anxiety. Throughout school she was able to volunteer at 4 different child disability support services and cannot wait to be role model and support individuals in everyday life.
