Vaccination Update for AYS Participants

Access Your Supports (AYS) continues to provide ease-of-mind when you’re receiving services from our team throughout Geelong, Colac and Mildura. AYS respects and upholds the right of every participant to have choice and control over support planning and delivery. We place the participant at the centre of everything we do. We also strive to provide a safe environment for you and a safe workplace for our staff. This is underpinned by our Participants Rights and Responsibilities Statement and our Code of Conduct which is signed by all workers.

With the ongoing announcements surrounding mandatory vaccinations for Authorised Workers, AYS accepts, complies and monitors this new legal requirement. As directed by the Victorian Chief Health Officer and the NDIS Commission, Access Your Supports is classified as an authorised worker business and falls within multiple categories for the mandated COVID-19 vaccination.

  • Disability Care – ‘services provided to an NDIS participant in any setting’
  • Services supporting disability care (Admin, IT, HR etc)
  • Child Care services
  • Health Care Services/
  • Social and Community Services

To fulfil our obligations under this Victorian State Mandate and the NDIS Code of Conduct, and to further protect our staff and you, our participants, against the spread of COVID-19, all AYS staff will be required to receive their first vaccination and provide a copy of vaccination by Friday 15 October to continue offering services to our participants. As always, safe and uninterrupted service delivery is our priority so you can be assured that all supports you are accessing at AYS are planned and delivered in a way that meets the requirements of COVID-Safe practices.

Our Peer Mentors will additionally be required to be fully vaccinated (according to the state roadmap) by 26th October to enter public buildings with their participants.

Every person involved with Access Your Supports has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays individually to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all participants and their families is at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.

A note for our Support Coordination participants

Implementing your NDIS plan and finding service providers that can delivery supports to meet your needs, we continue to do our upmost to ensure that these providers are complying with the COVID-Safe practices as directed by DHHS (VIC), including but not limited to mandatory vaccinations, as well as the standards and Code of Conduct of the NDIS Commission.  As part of our obligation to your safety, we would encourage you to speak with your providers and ask them questions about their registration with the NDIS Commission as well as their Covid vaccination status.  It is part of your right in accessing safe services that you can ask these questions.  Please speak with your Support Coordinator if you have any questions about any part of this letter.

For more information, we encourage you to speak with:
